Today we will explore old city of Tbilisi including Metekhi Church, Narikala Fortress, Sioni Cathedral and Anchiskhati Basilica. You will have afternoon free to explore city at your own pace.
Today we will drive to Kakheti region which is famous with wine production. We will have lunch and wine tasting in vineyard. Also explore Sighnaghi which called 'City of Love' a picturesque hilltop town surrounded by many beautiful churches, castles and mansions.
In the morning we drive to Mtskheta, the ancient capital of Georgia, located a short distance outside Tbilisi. First we visit Svetitskhoveli Cathedral and then we visit a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Jvari monastery, a 6th C cross‐shaped monastery built on the top of a cliff, overlooking the confluence of the Aragvi and Mtkvari rivers. We then drive along Georgian Military Highway and visit Ananuri Architectural complex, former residence of Dukes of Aragvi region.
We continue our journey and explore Khevi province, the heart of the country, known for its severe nature and numerous architectural monuments and archaeological sites. Arrive in Stepantsminda – a small town with the views of Mt. Kazbek. Hike to Gergeti Holy Trinity Church located under Mt. Kazbegi. The walk takes about 3 hours (Drive up to Gergeti Church by 4WD on supplementary basis).
We will explore the oldest urban settlement in Georgia, Uplistsikhe is an ancient rock-hewn town which contains various structures dating from the Early Iron Age to the Late Middle Age. After lunch, we visit Gori, known as the birthplace of the Soviet leader Joseph Stalin. Visit Stalin's Museum where you can see the house, where Stalin was born and his personal railway carriage. We continue onto Akhaltsikhe via Borjomi, famous for its mineral springs.
We start today with a visit to the Vardzia Cave Monastery. We continue on the way back to Tbilisi stopping at Khertvisi Fortress and Rabati castle along the way. Then we will drive to Yerevan, the Armenian capital.
Our first visit Echmiadzin Cathedral, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In the afternoon we return to Yerevan for an afternoon city tour. Visit of Matenadaran Museum and Tsitsernakaberd - the memorial complex dedicated to the victims of the Great Armenian Genocide.
Visit Garni Hellenistic temple and Geghard Monastery, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In the afternoon we visit Khor-Virap, "Deep Dungeon", one of the holiest sites in Armenia before returning to Yerevan.
After breakfast we will head towards to Lake Sevan, one of the largest high-altitude lakes in the world. Visit Sevan Monastery. In the afternoon, we drive to Alaverdi and visit Haghpat Monastery before returning back to Tbilisi.
Our tour concludes and your time is free until you are transferred to the airport.
